The Youth in Ministry One-Year Bible Reading Plan

Building Confidence, Purpose, and Resilience

This plan is designed for youth aged 15-19 to help them navigate the unique challenges of their generation and discover their vital role in God's kingdom. The goal is to consistently engage with God's Word, not to complete a checklist. Take time to pray, reflect, and talk about what you are learning with others.

Quarter 1: Finding Your Identity in Christ

**Topic:** You are a New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)

**Goal:** To establish a foundation that our true worth and identity are found in Christ, not in the world's standards.

Week 1: Created in God's Image

Week 2: Separated, Not Isolated

**Challenge:** Living in a secular society.

**Goal:** To understand that being "set apart" for God doesn't mean being isolated, but being a light in the darkness.

Week 3: Finding Your Purpose

**Challenge:** Finding meaning and direction.

**Goal:** To see that our purpose is tied to God's purpose for us.

Week 4: Battling Lies with Truth

**Challenge:** Doubt and questioning faith, media influence.

**Goal:** To recognize and counter the lies of the enemy with the truth of God's Word.

Week 5: The Power of Forgiveness

**Challenge:** Family and peer influence.

**Goal:** To understand how to forgive others as we have been forgiven by God.

Week 6: The Guidance of the Holy Spirit

**Challenge:** Finding meaning and direction.

**Goal:** To introduce the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding and empowering believers.

Week 7: Embracing Your Unique Gifts

**Challenge:** Identity and self-image.

**Goal:** To help youth discover and celebrate their individual, God-given talents and gifts.

Week 8: Honoring God with Your Time

**Challenge:** Media and technology.

**Goal:** To encourage intentional use of time, prioritizing spiritual growth over digital distractions.

Week 9: Responding to Doubt and Questions

**Challenge:** Doubt and questioning faith.

**Goal:** To provide a biblical framework for grappling with difficult questions without losing faith.

Weeks 10-13: Review and Deepen

This is a period for reflection, revisiting favorite passages, and exploring how these truths apply to your life. Choose which readings to focus on from the previous 9 weeks or explore a new book of the Bible like John or Philippians.

Quarter 2: Standing Firm in a Changing World

**Topic:** The Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18)

**Goal:** To equip youth with the spiritual tools to resist temptation and stand firm in their faith.

Week 14: Guarding Your Heart

**Challenge:** Sexual purity and temptation.

**Goal:** To understand the importance of purity and how to guard our hearts and minds.

Week 15: The Purity of Our Hearts

**Challenge:** Materialism and consumerism.

**Goal:** To shift focus from worldly possessions to spiritual treasures.

Week 16: Winning the Mental Battle

**Challenge:** Mental health and addiction.

**Goal:** To see that God's Word offers hope and a path to freedom from mental and spiritual bondage.

Week 17: Resisting the Allure of Technology

**Challenge:** Media and technology.

**Goal:** To set boundaries with media to protect your mind and spirit from harmful content.

Week 18: Combating Mental Health Challenges

**Challenge:** Mental health and addiction.

**Goal:** To provide biblical truths that offer comfort, hope, and a path to healing.

Week 19: Freedom from Addiction

**Challenge:** Mental health and addiction.

**Goal:** To encourage you to seek God's power and support for overcoming addictive behaviors.

Week 20: Finding Joy in God, Not Things

**Challenge:** Materialism and consumerism.

**Goal:** To help you find true joy and satisfaction in your relationship with God, not in the accumulation of possessions.

Week 21: Purity in Relationships

**Challenge:** Sexual purity and temptation.

**Goal:** To teach the importance of honoring God in all relationships, especially romantic ones.

Weeks 22-26: Review and Deepen

This is a period for reflection and deeper study on the topics of purity, mental health, and technology. Revisit passages that were particularly impactful or challenging to you.

Quarter 3: The Power of Community and Influence

**Topic:** A Living Body (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)

**Goal:** To highlight the importance of the church as a family and the power of positive peer influence.

Week 27: Finding Your Place in the Church

**Challenge:** Finding a supportive community.

**Goal:** To see that you are a necessary and valued part of the body of Christ.

Week 28: Standing Strong Against Peer Pressure

**Challenge:** Family and peer influence.

**Goal:** To equip you to make wise choices, even when it's unpopular.

Week 29: Honoring Your Family

**Challenge:** Family issues and lack of encouragement.

**Goal:** To understand God's command to honor parents and how to navigate difficult family dynamics with love and grace.

Week 30: Being a Friend Who Builds Up

**Challenge:** Family and peer influence.

**Goal:** To encourage and stress your importance as a positive influence in your friend circles.

Week 31: Loving the Unlovable

**Challenge:** Family and peer influence, living in a secular society.

**Goal:** To challenge you to show unconditional love to those who are difficult to love.

Week 32: The Role of a Mentor

**Challenge:** Lack of knowledge and discipline.

**Goal:** To highlight the importance of seeking out wise, godly mentors.

Week 33: A House Built on a Rock

**Challenge:** Family issues.

**Goal:** To empower you to be a source of strength and prayer in your family, even in challenging situations.

Week 34: Standing for Truth

**Challenge:** Doubt and questioning faith.

**Goal:** To provide the courage to stand for biblical truth in a world of conflicting viewpoints.

Weeks 35-39: Review and Deepen

This is a period for reflection on community, relationships, and the importance of standing for truth. Revisit the topics and readings that spoke to you most this quarter.

Quarter 4: Living a Life of Purpose and Mission

**Topic:** A Light to the Nations (Matthew 5:14-16)

**Goal:** To inspire you to live as a missionary in your daily life, empowered by God's Word and the Holy Spirit.

Week 40: Living Your Faith Out Loud

**Challenge:** Personalizing faith.

**Goal:** To move beyond passive faith to an active, daily walk with God.

Week 41: Equipping for the Mission Field

**Challenge:** Lack of knowledge and discipline.

**Goal:** To develop the skills and discipline to study the Bible and pray.

Week 42: You Are a Witness

**Challenge:** Sharing your faith.

**Goal:** To empower you with the confidence to share the Good News of Jesus.

Week 43: A Life of Service

**Challenge:** Personalizing faith.

**Goal:** To move beyond simply knowing about Jesus to actively serving others as He did.

Week 44: The Power of Prayer

**Challenge:** Lack of knowledge and discipline.

**Goal:** To encourage a deeper, more consistent prayer life.

Week 45: The Great Commission

**Challenge:** Sharing your faith.

**Goal:** To understand and embrace your role in fulfilling Jesus' final command to His disciples.

Week 46: A Legacy of Faith

**Challenge:** Finding meaning and direction.

**Goal:** To help you consider the impact of your life and live in a way that leaves a lasting legacy for the kingdom of God.

Weeks 47-52: Review and Deepen

End the year with a time of reflection on all you have learned. You can choose to repeat weeks, focus on specific topics, or use this time for a personal study of a book of the Bible.

Receive God's promise in Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep perfectly peaceful the one whose mind remains focused on you; those who remain in you—put their trust in you."
